Chewy Chocolate Cookies

These cookies are quite literally the embodiment of chocolate addiction. They are moist and chewy in texture with an extra kick of having butterscotch chips smattered in them. Non-pretentious, all business, better than your grandma's, kind of cookie.

Not a fan of butterscotch? No problem! Throw some white or milk chocolate, heck throw in some macadamia nuts- GO WILD! There are no rules, as long as you stick to the cookie batter recipe, add-ons are where your creative freedom rings.

Getting Started

First, you need a good mixing bowl, have your butter already softened, and your eggs are best if they are at room temperature.

Combine your eggs, butter, vanilla, sugar, and cocoa powder together. Mix well. To this mixture, add your flour, salt (optional), and baking soda.

Mix thoroughly together the wet and dry ingredients. Now add your nuts (optional) and/or baking chips ( I chose butterscotch chips).

Once your chips or nuts if you decide to add them, are mixed evenly throughout your cookie dough, make rounded teaspoonfuls of cookie dough on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 Degrees Fahrenheit for about 8-9 minutes. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.

Recipe

1 1/4 c. butter, softened
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
3/4 c. cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. finely chopped nuts (optional)
1 package butterscotch chips (optional)
